The Cairnwood Gala is a bi-annual charity event to support the ongoing work of preserving and restoring the estate and its grounds for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.

Since 2008, the Gala has raised over $200,000 for restoration and preservation projects at Cairnwood. These projects included restoring the entry gates to the estate on Huntingdon Pike, recreating the original Olmstead and Eliot designed path which leads from Cairnwood’s veranda to the Garden House, and reproducing, in historically accurate fashion, some of Cairnwood’s original rugs and runners.

Funds have also contributed to the restoration of the Cairnwood Garden House and the adaption of the building for reuse as an inviting education and orientation center for Cairnwood and the Bryn Athyn Historic District.

Cairnwood is thrilled to announce that the 4th bi-annual Gala – Evergreen & Emerald Gala: A Tribute to Frederick Law Olmsted – will be hosted on the evening of April 19th, 2013. The grounds and gardens of Cairnwood Estate are the product of two giants in American landscape architecture; Charles Eliot and Frederick Law Olmsted. It was a natural alliance. Charles Eliot was a preservationist, working to establish the Trustees of Public Reservations. Olmsted is widely recognized today as the founder of landscape architecture in America. He developed some of the nation’s most notable parks and public grounds, including New York Central Park, the U.S. Capitol and White House grounds. The Evergreen & Emerald Gala: A Tribute to Frederick Law Olmsted will honor the legacy of Olmsted and his incorporation of natural landscapes and rustic gardens that have elevated the cultural, social and psychological well-being of Americans.

Proceeds from the Evergreen & Emerald Gala will be used to restore and improve the grounds and gardens of Cairnwood Estate. Admission: $225; Member Tickets: $170. We appreciate your ongoing support of Cairnwood.
